Does the killer gene matter?

It was just a normal conversation between me and my room partner Ajay Modi.We happened to talk about ‘How over a period of time people change and their dreams die down.’

This made me think not only for some hours , but for a few days after which I decided to write on my blog.It is not only myself or Ajay but everyone might have seen people who are very good in studies but over a period of time their fire power goes down and than finally a stage comes when they are content with their lives.

Ajay mentioned about one of his friend’s who is very much intelligent and can do much more in life than he is doing currently but he hasn’t tried to do something more….He had lots of dreams in college while they were studying together in IIT,Roorkee but now things have changed for his friend. It is not only his friend but in every company,we would find such people for whom technology is just a way of living whereas they could contribute much more by thinking out of the box and doing something innovative.

But the question is “Why do things change?”. The most critical reason for this change is the attitude which we have towards our life . Every individual is like a bird(who can fly freely in the sky) , but when birds fly in a group , than it becomes important with whom they are flying . Similar to birds , in real life , the company(ie colleagues and friends) that we have also matters. So, we should take advice from the right set of people and learn from them(as well as our mistakes) and ignore the LOSER category of people.

As Guy Kawasaki says in his book “Art of the Start”“It is very easy to ignore people who have not achieved anything in life and they are considered as losers”.

Hence, it is important to be in the right company(ie set of friends and colleagues) so that our thoughts get enhanced and this would lead us live a better life and achieve a higher scale of success.

PS:I am just an ordinary guy(or should I say “I am no Guru”, as told by Robin Sharma) but my thoughts encourage me to do something more(and go an extra mile) than what I can do , which extracts the best out of me and gives me immense sense of accomplishment.

  • I do agree with some of the points you mentioned, that we need to seek advice from the right kind. But do you think it’s always possible to ignore the losers ? It’s really very hard because they only contribute to the other (rest of) half to make a winner.

To be specific identifying a looser is not important, rather to find what made him so. The point here is, to learn and learn in what so ever means we do face things in life.

  • Hi Alok,
I really agree to your point but when I say LOSER it means “A person who has never tried anything and before trying he feels he will loose”.The catch is that our morale can also go down if we are in the company of such people.Hence,STAY AWAY FROM THEM

And as you have said “Learn from mistakes”,it is correct.Such people have tried and failed but they have again done something there.A simple example would be my business hero ‘GuruRaj Deshpande” who failed when he started his first venture but then immediately after that he looked at the mistakes which he had made and started “SYCAMORE NETWORKS” which is doing quite well.
We should try to learn from such people.
I truly agree to your point

  • Really good to read, good conversation, I agree with your points, about loosers…but I strongly believe that which we are that because of our past’s thoughts and what we will that because of our present’s thought, the thing is “try until you win”, observe your good as well as bad thoughts, and catch some innovative thoughts among them to drive your life further in extra way, always awake about whatever you think,……and one other thing, which I always believe in is: when we think something, about some matter, we have 1000 points to think on that, the attitude means, which point we catch to think further on that matter, also, dream high, and become “well determined “ for what your dreams….and it is always true that …”Sky is the limit……….., as you said, we individual is like a bird……..so, we need to decide how to fly, up to what height we want to fly and with who we want to fly……..that we are we choose everything, either consciously or subconsciously…… and of, course, success is a journey not a destiny…….

    Keep writing on blogs……

  • One other thing, “it is always very simple to say something or to dream something”, but it is always very very hard to stick and make total effort for that…..
so, keep dream high as well work hard on that…
best luck for your all efforts….

  • Hi Hiral,
I agree to all your points which you have mentioned. The thing which you have stressed about is “To forget the past or should I say taking the learnings from the past” and plan the future which is very important.

Be in any field, planning is very much important. And as you have said,”Only when you have high thoughts you tend to do something else we are in the same crowd of people where loads of people are already there in a queue”

    Well said.

  • Your last sentense in your comment was really “well said”:-) we are in a queue….
